From the Author As I was finishing The Savvy Demon's Guide to Godly Living, I kept thinking that there was a need to go deeper. I love how much can be said through fiction, but the book dealt with Christian making disciples--which, statistically, modern Christians don't--and the Holy Spirit insisted there was so much more that needed to be said. At His insistence, I would write my first nonfiction book.And it was a lot of work! And, as we became foster parents, life kept getting in the way. But I persevered.I searched the Gospels to find an answer to the question, "How did Jesus make disciples?" I figured it was the only way to know what He really meant when He gave the Great Commission. My researched produced really solid results. I tried to write in an accessible, conversational style. This is important stuff. It's not getting done. This book is an attempt to help change that.

Johnson I must admit, the easy-going, conversational style of the writing took a while for me to get used to. As a minister and theologian, I am accustomed to serious, non-fiction books being written in a serious, non-fiction style. As I was given this book in exchange for an unbiased review, I was dreading early on what I would say since the presentation was so far outside my "box".Then as I read further I started to realize, the INFORMATION in this book is dead on and very practical. Additionally, the conversational style may be just what is needed to reach more Christians with the information of how to make disciples. I have served overseas for years working to make disciple-making disciples, and I have discovered many people are just not wired for a formalized, regimented teaching style. I came to realize this book fills a much needed gap, i.e. putting forth in a non-intimidating way the training that is needed to help followers become genuine disciple-making disciples.I think Brad Francis should think about developing this book into an actual Sunday School curriculum. For high-school age youth groups, for younger adult classes, and for more "hip and relevant" church styles, this takes a relaxed and relateable approach to conveying the Biblically-sound information on disciple making that would be well received in those venues.Ultimately I would definitely, whole-heartedly recommend the information in this book. If you are not the type of person that can adapt to receiving formal information in an informal way, this book may not be for you. But if you learn best in a conversational style, talking one-on-one with a relatable mentor, then this book is a must-read for every believer.Jesus commanded it. He and the apostles modeled it. Now Brad Francis helps you see in a very practical way how to obey the Great Commission and DO IT!

Brad Francis writes as though he is sitting at the kitchen table talking with you; laying out his insight of the Scriptures. This book, "Go Make Disciples" reveals that not only did Jesus fulfill prophecy and give us eternal life, but He was also leading by example - how to make Disciples. "Follow me. Follow me and I will show you how to follow Jesus Christ." First, Jesus tells each man He chose as Disciples, "Follow me." and then the Disciples tell the Church and Believers the same instruction: 'follow me and I will show you how to follow Christ."We are thrilled when we lead a person to Salvation. But, what do we do with that new Christian? Discipleship is a command, the last command by Jesus - 'Go and make Disciples..." Isn't it necessary to give that new Christian the tools they need to feed themselves, and learn and grow spiritually? We should be pouring ourselves into another, Paul said 'imitate us' so the new Believers would know how to follow and obey Jesus.Go and Make Disciples gives great guideline for how to Disciple others. The author uses 5 Methods of Disciplining: Example, Evaluate, Educate, Equip, and Experience. Each of these are accompanied with examples in Scripture as to how Jesus used these methods in training His Disciples so they would be able to do the same.I am currently disciplining someone and some of these I am using, the book has been helpful in where to go from here. Every Church and every Christian can find this guideline helpful as we follow Jesus' command to go and make Disciples. I highly recommend the book!

I highly recommend it to all Christians - because while the Great Commission DOES apply to all of us, many of us don't really understand how to make disciples or how it's different from simply making converts. Brad Francis does a wonderful job of explaining it, using examples straight from the life of Jesus and His interactions with His followers. This book is clear, understandable, and very easy to read, not at all a chore to plow through like some theology books. Francis has a humorous, down-to-earth, conversational writing style, and you will feel as though you are sitting right there with him as you read. I don't know when the last time was that I read a book this theologically sound, about this critical a spiritual issue, that was so interesting and entertaining that it just kept me turning pages. Read Go Make Disciples and prepare to be challenged and inspired!I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
