Unfortunately adult responsibilities limit my reading time currently. When I do read, it is often arid technical information (tax law, anyone?).So happy to have had this series recommended. It was the perfect clean escape for weekend reading.Series is a loose term, because I’m not sure that Susan Vail or Elanor Miller plan to continue their characters in other books, although I hope they do. Both of these authors wrote novellas that led you to care about their characters and wonder what would happen in future chapters of their lives.I particularly liked the detail that Vail put into a moment when her heroine, Hannah, stopped to pick up a feather. She could have easily kept the plot breezing along, yet she paused to let the girl wonder about the design and the creativity of God. Four brief paragraphs let us see a different side of the character and led us to be in awe as well.The other pieces in this set were short stories. This limitation didn’t give the authors much time to flesh out their characters, which I missed.The fictional town of Fairfield seems like just the place we’d love to visit. I am hoping that Vail and Miller choose to take us there again, if not to learn more about the developing lives of these characters, perhaps to meet some with complications caused by years of living. A Fairfield widow who hesitantly meets romance for the first time, perhaps?

By Shell L Letting Go - Susan Vail.Hannah & Isaac – Hannah has always put God first in her life & has trouble understanding people in her community who don’t live their lives or wish to in the Amish Way. She has great concerns about her sister Sarah & has to learn that rebuking her harshly does more harm than good. Her friend Isaac who many think is slow teaches her through his own life how to “Let Go & Let God” & how to love the person even though you may not like what they are doing. Her new attitude brings changes in all of their lives. Isaac may seem simple but his love for God, Nature & people is unconditional & with his loving caring spirit & sense of humour eventually Hannah realises that she wants to spend her life with him this amazing man.A powerful story about how one person sees someone they love so differently from everyone else in a Community & the wonderful affect that has on both of them. Isaac changes Hannah who in turn makes him a stronger person than anyone else, (except his Mum) thought he could be. I enjoyed this story too much as I then had to read the other three in one sitting which was not my plan.Rebekah's Quilt - Isabell Weaver.Rebekah is passionate about quilting & helping others. She even extends her help outside her Amish Community by donating her quilts for Auction to raise funds for Charities. She meets Levi who is not sure who he really is. He has not found himself & does not trust his ability to live a full Amish life. When he & Rebekah meet he finds himself her hero & working together they both find their way towards a lifetime as a couple.A lovely story about two people who together are stronger & better than either of them was alone.Unexpected Romance – Elanor MillerRebekah is Amish in her whole heart & soul. She & her family have little in the way of material things as they lost their Dad in a buggy accident several years ago. They make ends meet by forgoing even the modern appliances they are allowed to have, keeping bees for making honey & candles & helping with odd jobs. Jacob is from an Amish family but has not committed to the Church. Though he & Rebekah have fallen in love he leaves the community to live the English way of life but a series of incidents lead him back to his Amish Roots & to Rebekah.A lovely book about the Power of Love between two people & between ourselves & God.Abigail's First Love - Diane BurkholderAbigail is 16 & questioning her life & her Faith as many teenagers do. She begins to attend her first Socials as an adult which she enjoys but also attends English parties which bring many question to her mind. A friend Isaac, who is trying to help her through this difficult time sends her a simple honest note telling her he understand what she is going though & that he is thinking of her as he likes her a lot. Such a simple thing but it opens her eyes & heart to both this young man & to God.A short simple story a lot about life in general contained in its few chapters. I hope we hear more about Abigail & Isaac in the future.The only negative statement I could make about this set of books was that I couldn’t put it down.
