Toru, the son of a yakuza boss, is sent into exile on a deserted island for his own protection during a gang feud. Fiery and impetuous, he isn't thrilled to be sidelined when he'd rather be in the fight, and is even less thrilled that Mutsumi, son of the gang's second in command, is going with him. The serious, studious Mutsumi is Toru's opposite in every way, and it doesn't take long before the sparks between them begin to fly! After learning that Mutsumi has been taken by the Hokusai Gang, Tohru rushes to the wrong location to free him. Tohru is known for his beauty, and the thugs guarding the Hokusai office are quick to notice. Not wanting to rely on his father’s name, Tohru doesn’t reveal who he is, and with nothing to stop them, the lusty thugs quickly descend on him. When Mutsumi finally arrives to find Tohru nearly defiled, he flies into a rage and pulls out a gun! But how far will he go to save the man he loves?

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Great story but wrapped up too quickly! Trigger warrning inside. By MetaKite In this final volume, Asato has set Tohru up to walk into a dangerous situation where he is physically threatened with rape while keeping Mutsumi busy. Asato hopes to separate the pair long enough for Tohru to conclude he's not meant for the yakuza underworld. This all leads to Mutsumi stepping up so Tohru can take a third option as heir to the Suki family. The villainous Asato even gets his comeuppance in a different and refreshing fashion rarely seen in yakuza stories. The drama is great, the suspense of the opening chapter is heart wrenching and we get to see Mutsumi and Tohru shine as the brains and heart respectively that makes this couple so likeable. The character development really illustrates their unique dynamic. As usual the artwork is great and the sex scenes are steamy. There's even hetero sex as some questions about Mutsumi's secret past and intrigue are answered. If themes concerning incest disturb you, should probably skip this book. There were some minor censorship of invisi-dick done to a couple sex scenes that weren't censored in the JP magazine they were originally published in.My only real complaint here story wise is that it can be as sexist just as it is sympathetic to Tohru's plight of being a very effeminate man in an environment where he is expected to be extremely masculine and pressured act "macho". I was annoyed with the references throughout the series of him being treated like a woman or would become a woman for being the uke (bottom) in a gay relationship. It's repeated in this volume but at the same time Tohru proves to be the most "macho" of all despite not being very masculine in his mature decision making when it comes to solving problems they face. He doesn't rely on the old gangster solution of beating opponents to a pulp or even killing them. Being able to make the toughest decisions even if you are embarrassed by your lack of physicality is far more impressive than resorting to violence. Lack of physical stature does not mean that one is weak and should not be equated to being a woman but Tohru is constantly referred to being like a woman. He's just a young man doing the best that he can and shouldn't be emasculated for having a great body with amazing sex appeal and flaunting it. It's also stated women don't get involved in the family business but see how Tohru's grandmother who was in charge at one point handled things.Another downside is the final 2 chapters appear to have maybe 5 chapters or more worth of story cramped in after chapter 12 and a timeskip of an undetermined amount of time. It's as if Nitta was rushing to just finish the story and get it over with. So a lot happens very quickly at the end and even the final sex scene between Tohru (sadist, yup) and Mutsumi (masochist) seems unfinished. Could be lack of interest in the series overall so it came to a swift conclusion? If so that's a shame because Tohru and Mustumi's relationship (especially Tohru's compassionate heart in such a world) was very interesting to read. There is also more that could have been told as not all mysteries are solved. Sad to see it end but I recommend this book for fans of Nitta's work. Really left me wanting more of this couple.

The proliferation of all the various mobs and the intricacies of dealing with physical violence, real or implied, mingled with legitimate and illegitimate business—it all makes for confusing reading. At times, I wasn’t sure what gang was doing what or why. The Byzantine nature of yakuza business is truly baffling; it’s like reading about court intrigue during the reigns of European kings.Mix that in with talk of succession and heirs and the analogy becomes even more pointed. It doesn’t make it any easier when family bloodlines are all tangled up so that people may actually be having incest—whether both parties know it or not.Ms. Nitta doesn’t stint on her characters’s interior lives. Everyone is guessing what the other person is thinking and their psychoanalysis, no matter how brief, is often on the money. It gives some of the main characters a depth you might not be expecting. The aspect of mixing business with pleasure is not for the squeamish. When two men are exchanging business talk while engaging in heated sex, you don’t know whether to be aroused or appalled. But that’s the beauty of Ms. Nitta’s creations—layered writing, sex mingled with commerce, politics, family birthrights and brutal character insights. It makes for messy relationships but such is life. For people wanting more straightforward romance, they might want to go elsewhere. But if you don’t mind incest, guns, business machinations, rape mixed in with handsome, hot, naked boys having raw, down-and-dirty sex, then look no further.

By Polka loves Polka Dancing I have given up on this story. I am a big Youka Nitta fan so I stuck through with this series up to vol. 3 despite it having a yukaza theme which I don't like. But the ultra feminine uke was just too disappointing, he seems to get more girly as the series moves continues.
