"We may never, this side of death, drive the invader out of our territory, but we must be in the Resistance." -C.S. LewisWe live in a world at war, an ongoing battle between light and darkness, good versus evil. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8) and declared the gates of hell would not prevail against His advancing Kingdom (Matt. 16:18). The Church has been called to conflict. The purpose of the book is mobilizing the local church to the ends of the earth and advancing the Kingdom of God. theresistancemovement.com

Review "The Resistance will inspire your Jesus-centered faith to the ends of the earth." -Mark Batterson, author of The Circle Maker"What is the Church of Jesus to be and to do in the days in which we live? In, The Resistance, Zach Maddox defines not only the importance of the church, but also its affect on culture and society. If you want to see what the church is meant to be, this is a must read!" -Justin Lathrop, Executive Director, Young Pastors"Zach Maddox delivers a strong message to Christians of this generation. With an engaging blend of past and present voices, The Resistance is a timely and powerful reminder to the church to be active and not passive, to advance and not sit as we wait for Jesus' return." -Eli Gautreaux, Chi Alpha Director, Sam Houston State University
From the Author What does Jesus expect of His Church? Jesus directly speaks about the church in Matthew 16 and 18. In Revelation He addresses seven letters to churches in Asia Minor. These passages have been explored to draw out the qualities Christ expects: perseverance, community, love, truth, holiness, authenticity, mission and fervor. Will the church embrace these qualities and be Jesus to the world?
From the Back Cover When Jesus invited the first disciples to "follow me," they could not have imagined they would become a part of a movement that changed the world. Within a few years they were accused of turning the world upside down and within a couple hundred years "Pan was dead" and the Imperial Cult had toppled. Jesus is building His Church and we have an invitation to participate. Presently over three billion people are without the message of Jesus. Will you join The Resistance?

Excellent personal accounts from people all over the world who are serving Christ in areas where the church is persecuted. Very relevant with great insight into the fundamental truths of what it means to be a church. My husband and I like to read books like this together and discuss them. The questions at the end of the chapter for small groups are a great way for us to have that quality discussion time. I highly recommend this book for anyone who has been simply going to church for a long time and needs a fresh perspective on how God wants to impact your life through the church.

It has helped me understand better the letters to the churches in Revelation, and also to apply the truths in these letters to my own life and church. There are also some really good discussion questions for small groups at the end of each chapter. I rarely read the book of Revelation as I find it hard to understand\figure out--but after reading The Resistance, and knowing that I can apply the letters to the churches in Revelation more practically in my life, I will be reading it more often.

In an age where it seems that we are becoming less committed to the church because of a cultural drift, Zach recalls what the church is called to be. In a practical way, he challenges each of us to assess where we are now, how we can resist the cultural pull, and love the church as Christ does. For those seeking to grow spiritually, this is book is rich in content and life application.
