Re-Viewing Anais By Barbara Kraft When Anais Nin’s first diary was published in 1966 Elisabeth Stevens, Washington Post, wrote “Transcending mere self-revelation, offering far more than a record…the diary examines human personality with a depth and understanding seldom surpassed since Proust….”In her slim but prodigious book Re-Viewing Anais Nin, Rochelle Holt covers much ground including her personal relationship with Nin and contributes greatly to the Nin legacy. Her discussion of Nin’s many fiction books and their titles reveal the originality and uniqueness of Nin: Under a Glass Bell, The Four-Chambered Heart, Winter of Artifice, Ladders to Fire, Children of the Albatross, A Prisoner in the House of Love, Seduction of the Minotaur and Colleges. But the really story lies in the celebrated diaries of Anais Nin. As Los Angeles Times literary critic Robert Kirsch wrote in 1966 following the publication of Diary I, it was “one of the most remarkable diaries in the histories of letters…” Holt reminds the reader of Re-Viewing that Nin used psychoanalysis as a technique for the discovery of the hidden self, believing that the external story was ‘unreal.’ What mattered was the inner story of the self. Holt writes “…what (Nin) did with analysis was to use, transform, and finally reject all but the poetry.” She quotes Yeats, writing that Nin would most likely have agreed with Yeats famous line “How can you tell the dancer from the dance?’

Excerpt from An Introduction to AgricultureThe author's thought in preparing this book has been to provide an elementary text on agriculture suitable for use by children of the seventh and eighth grades, and by pupils of a corresponding advancement in ungraded schools. It is hoped, also, that the book will not be found unsuited to the needs of Reading Circles and of individual students. The author, of course, makes no claim to completeness, nor is the book offered as a guide to farming. The effort has been, however, to touch those matters which would be most useful to pupils in our rural schools, and especially to give the underlying theory for many farm processes and practices. It is believed that teachers and students will find the summaries and questions at the end of each chapter especially helpful in reviewing and making definite the information which the chapters contain.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Carly Eubanks returns to Mineola to attend her aunt's funeral. She is touched by nostalgia when attending this event and spending time with family she hasn't seen in a while. She decides to drive down the street where she grew up in Mineola before catching her plane back to California. There, in front of her childhood home, she sees a work crew who are just about to cut down the tree she played in as a little girl. On a whim, Carly shimmies up the tree and settles into the branches telling all who will listen that she plans to stay there until the City Council abandons plans to destroy the trees in order to widen the road. With the help of an old high school boyfriend and her cousin, Carly chains herself to the tree and makes it her home for weeks during her protest to save the environment. In the meanwhile, Carly's niece, Allison, begins a school project which entails writing to a pen pal in Scotland. Her pen pal is a lad named Logan, who is wheelchair bound. The boy's uncle, Duncan, works every year as an electrician at an annual event called the Enchanted Forest. The forest in Pitlochry, Scotland is transformed into a magic place with colored lights and music, story tellers and costumed fairies. The event brings tourists from all over the world. The forest and the trees are very important to Duncan. He and Carly both have an affinity for nature and a love of green growing things. Now with her niece and his nephew they have a connection which just might bring them together.

Chained to Mineola (Long Island, New York Book 2), by A. Louise Robertson

From the Author I am thrilled to release the second book in my Long Island, New York trilogy.  The first book, Welcome to Mineola, has been well received and is selling internationally on Amazon.com.I would like to thank my readers for their positive support and their patient anticipation of the second volume.Chained to Mineola begins with the funeral of Molly, the adopted daughter of Sarah and Norman Parker from Welcome to Mineola.   One of Sarah's dear friends when she was a young housewife was Betty Edwards.  Betty and her husband, Bill, were one of the original homeowners of the post WWII tract houses built in Mineola for the families of returning servicemen.  Betty was also dear friends with Rachel Edwards, the protagonist of the first volume.  Betty had one child, a daughter, named Susan. Chained to Mineola is the story of Carly Eubanks, Susan's daughter.  Featured characters include her dear friend and "adopted cousin," Patricia, as well as Patricia's daughter, Alison.Carly proves to be stubborn and determined. She is a strong woman who inspires others to look for the best in every situation and she has a heart of gold.  I  hope you enjoy Chained to Mineola, and that you are as endeared to Carly as you were to Rachel. The final book in the series, Farewell to Mineola will be released in the Spring of 2016.

From the Back Cover Can we escape our past or are we bound to the mistakes we made when we were younger and more naive?  Are we responsible for the sins of our parents? Do we need to make amends for what our ancestors may have done, including acts we may have spent our lives unaware of?  More importantly, if we are true to ourselves and live according to the morals and convictions we have been taught and have honed for years, do we need to feel guilty when rumormongers and disparaging persons show up to shake a finger at our beliefs? Some everyday heroes and heroines face this battle at one point or other in their lives depending on the depth of their principles and the strength they have to wage the war. Carly Eubanks makes a decision to be loyal.  She will not allow the city she grew up in to destroy the trees on the street of her childhood home - in spite of the claim that the act will be done in the name of progress.  Duncan McFarland also has tenets by which  he stands firm.  Though they live thousands of miles apart, the love they both have for the environment and their devotion to family values will combine with their sense of duty and committment - potentially drawing them closer together.  Are they destined to meet and will they each overcome their challenges and still have faith in the possiblity of love?

About the Author A. Louise Robertson grew up in Mineola, New York, one of four children.  Her parents moved to the town from New York City a short while after her father returned from World War II.Ms. Robertson treasures her memories of Mineola, and has recently returned there for a family reunion, which sparked so many memories that she soon began this trilogy, based on life in this iconic small town. The author has been writing since first discovering books and loving to read at a young age.  After raising her family as a single mother, she began, in earnest, to have her work published and become an "author" as she puts it, instead of just a "writer."She lives in South Pasadena, California where she can see her seven grandchildren pretty much every weekend.  A. Louise Robertson considers that she has lived a blessed life ... the publishing years, she says, "are the icing on the cake."

Louise Robertson By Marichus Real I was given a gifted copy by Story Cartel in exchange for an honest review.A wonderful reading. A book about honesty and perseverance, about love and dedication. There is one thing I don’t understand: part of the story is set in Scotland with Scottish characters, so why is all the time Duncan calling Logan “boyo” if that word is not Scottish but Irish?Apart from that and several typos and words being written twice, the book is really enjoyable and a good reading for all ages.

Review

"Speaking from a decade of research experience in science, this is an important book…does a good job of covering the many facets of a successful career in STEM...Women at all stages of their career will find something useful...an encouraging and inspirational book."--Universe Today

"...we need women to fully participate in this industry...morally and ethically, it’s simply the right thing to do. This book will undoubtedly help."--Network Security

“I think most scientists at early stages in their careers would find this book extraordinarily useful, and many scientists at later stages would benefit enormously from the advice as well. …one of the strengths of this book is the array of perspectives provided by the diverse collection of authors. …This book is both introspective and inspirational, driving readers to examine their own values and goals but providing ample illustrations of successful women scientists. I particularly appreciate the emphasis on self-awareness and the understanding that every scientist has their own path to follow; that no one sets of rules applies to everyone. Although the book is primarily meant for beginning scientists, it will be valuable to many women (and men) at various stages of their careers. I wish I had such a resource at the outset of my own scientific life.”--Ann M. Flower, University of North Dakota School of Medicine for MICROBE (2006) "…aimed at women embarking on a career in science or in their final years of training for such a role. The prologue is quite inspiring and so are the women profiled..." --Chemistry Word, 2006 "...this book contains useful advice for women and men at all stages of their careers." --Journal of Chemical Education, 2006 "...valuable career guide which is relevant not only to scientists and academics but also women in other fields. Their enthusiasm, commitment, courage and willingness to share their experiences are what makes this book so readable. Full of useful tips and advice, it also provokes thoughtful reflection while providing inspiration and encouragement through the distillation of their insights and advice. As its title suggest, this guide is a book to be dipped into again and again as women face different transition points and its structured approach and excellent index makes it easy to find the relevant sections." --Margaret Dane, Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services, CEO (2006)

"One of the key strengths of the book is that each chapter stands on its own and can be read separately... I highly recommend the book to young female scientists, in particular those in academia. It is well written and covers all critical topics on how to manage your career."--The Leading Edge,Success Strategies From Women in STEM, Second Edition

"...provides broad, general information on common experiences that the reader will be familiar with but had not perceived as 'significant' in their efforts toward success... I highly recommend this book to early-career female professionals in the STEM fields..."--The Leading Edge,Success Strategies From Women in STEM, Second Edition

Dinosaurs and the Expanding Earth proposes a startling idea to explain the long-standing puzzle of the dinosaurs' gigantic size. Stephen Hurrell presents scientific evidence that dinosaurs lived in a reduced gravity and this allowed them to grow to gigantic proportions. The Reduced Gravity Earth theory explains why all land-based life has shifted towards a larger scale on the ancient Earth. This includes gigantic dinosaurs, plants and insects. It is also a key piece of evidence that provides additional support for an Expanding Earth, something a few leading geologists have been suggesting for decades. Since its initial unveiling, the Reduced Gravity Earth theory has been widely discussed and debated. Individuals from laymen to professors are now arguing that gravity was lower on the ancient Earth. You can analyse the evidence for believing the controversial Reduced Gravity Earth theory and its implications for the Expanding Earth in this third edition of Dinosaurs and the Expanding Earth. Praise for previous editions of Dinosaurs and the Expanding Earth 'something completely different ... an original work rather than a re-presentation of existing knowledge ... well presented.' GEOLOGY TODAY - Blackwell Science Ltd. 'Engineers (Hurrell) have shown that dinosaurs' bones could not have borne their weight ... much reduced surface gravity is essential for dinosaurs to have existed.' Professor S. Warren Carey, University of Tasmania. '... written in a plain straightforward style and its target is a wide public not interested in specialist treatises. Its clear and lively descriptions lead the reader straight to the core of the arguments. ... could well be the topics of joint scientific collaboration between engineers and paleontologists.' Gives very strong evidence for an expanding earth, but falls apart when trying to give a mechanism By James David Lambert This book gives excellent evidence for an expanding earth. The scale of dinosaurs over time predicts an exponential growth of the earth and independently the geology of the earth makes the same prediction. Its hard to ignore the evidence and this book does an excellent job explaining it.I do feel though, that the hypothesis given in this book trying to explain how the earth expands is pretty weak which is why I give it a 4 star rating instead of a 5 star.I would recommend this book to anybody who isn't familiar with the expanding earth theory. It explains the history of this theory and gives convincing evidence that the earth is indeed expanding.

By murderbymedia This theory makes perfect sense and I am very happy I read this book.I have no problem with this view of geologic history, but a lot of people think I'm retarded for taking it seriously. The fools!!Someday the world will be gigantic and their descendants will be neotonic hyper-cephalic humanoids one foot tall whether they believe it or not!

The conventional theories always seem to have large holes that everyone is happy to excuse simply because the "train inertia" that has built up is so large (grants, conflicts of interest, etc.). But we need new views like this to challenge the absurdity of existing theory "large holes".
