Trafalgar written by Perez Galdos gives us Gabrielito (age 14)point of view of the naval battle of Trafalgar between the English vs. Spanish and French. Little bit of everything, a Dulcinea(metaphor) kind of platonic love story, war/violence, naval tactics and some comedy. Recommend!

The syntax are at the moderate level with moderate -to- heavy use of the reflexive. It's written at just the level I need. Simple enough for me to understand 95% and advanced enough to be challenging. And I find that the plot holds my attention so it's not merely a language exercise, it's entertaining.Pair this with the Merriam-Webster Spanish-to-English dictionary (for Kindle) Merriam-Webster's Spanish-English Translation Dictionary, Kindle Edition (Spanish Edition) and you have a nice read for the moderate level Spanish-as-Second-Language reader with a digital tutor to help with the unfamiliar words.Caution: That dictionary does not handle the reflexive very well. But if it can't find the translation for a verb in the reflexive form you can type in the infinitive form and get the translation like that. Still works.

The purpose of this study is to examine the length of individuals' who are raised by their grandparents and the effects that it has on the individual if any. I chose to conduct research on this topic or subject matter to see if being raised by grandparents have psychological effects on the foundation of determining whether a person will achieve success (and or education). I also chose this topic so that I may add to the existing literature on this topic area in hopes that in the future my research may guide further research and funding for this population. Another main goal of this study is to discover those attributes and environmental conditions present for those who triumphed despite the odds (From Trials to Triumph). To that end, the overarching question is what are the differential characteristics between African American male high school drop outs and high school graduates? Through an analysis of those traits, we can discover those factors contributory to the success, or failure, of African American male learners in graduating from high school. Identification of those factors will serve two purposes. All involved in the educative process of Black boys will gain a better understanding of their plight. The newly gained knowledge can then be used to better prepare these learners for what many consider to be an adversarial terrain. By equipping them with the appropriate coping mechanisms, we will surely increase their likelihood of success in life and in the educational arena.

Rhinehart Sr. Dr. Jackson is a native of Chester, South Carolina and currently resides in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. He is the son of Mr. Michael Jackson and Mrs. Linda C. Kennedy. His paternal grandparents are Ms. Patricia Ann Rhinehart. Maternal grandparents are Ms. Alvenia Rambert Kennedy and the late Mr. Howard Kennedy. Dr. Jackson is also the great-grandson of the late Mrs. Eliza Cornwell Rhinehart, the late Mr. James E. Rhinehart Sr., the late Mrs. Willie Mae Harris Rambert and the late Mr. Derry Rambert. He is also the oldest brother of 3 sisters (Dominique D. Hardin, Melissa M. Kennedy and Germanie L. Jackson) and 2 brothers (Demario D. Kennedy and Joshua L. Jackson). Dr. Jackson is a June 2003 of Chester Senior High School in Chester, South Carolina. A May 2007 graduate of Johnson C. About the Author English novelist and playwright Wilkie Collins was a prolific writer with a body of work comprising thirty novels, over sixty short stories, more than a dozen plays, and a wide range of non-fiction pieces. Collins is best known for his novels The Woman in White, an early sensation novela genre combining shocking gothic horror with everyday domestic settingsand The Moonstone, which is credited as one of the first modern mystery novels. In the 1850s Collins met Charles Dickens and the two struck up a friendship, which lead to Collins becoming a frequent contributor to Dickens s journals Household Words and All the Year Round. Many of his stories have been adapted for film, including Basil, A Terribly Strange Bed, The Moonstone and The Woman in White. Collins died in 1889 at the age of 65.

Charming tale of love & detection By Patto First published in 1878, this delectable novella has the complexity of a full-length novel and is full of revolutions and revelations of character.There's a mystery. A banknote for 500 pounds has been stolen from Lady Lydiard out of an unsealed letter. Among the several people who wandered into the room where the letter sat, lovely young Isabel, beloved companion of Lady Lydiard, seems the most likely suspect.You and I and various others feel she must be innocent. But proving it will not be quick or easy. The obstacles in the way of a proper investigation make for a tangled plot. Wilkie Collins gives us a highly original detective too: a dirty old reprobate who does not inspire trust, but is nonetheless awfully good at solving crimes.And finally there's a suspenseful love story. Two men fall in love with Isabel, and the outcome is doubtful to the very end.Wilkie Collins had a weakness for women and in his maturity kept two mistresses at once. However reprehensible his morals, his appreciation of women resulted in vital, appealing female characters. The physical charms and winning ways of Isabel are beautifully portrayed. Even eccentric sixty-year-old Lady Lydiard comes across as an attractive and magnetic character.I loved My Lady's Money and would recommend it to anyone fond of Victorian authors and early detective fiction. The Dodo Press edition offers a pleasant reading experience.

11 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Almost as good as The Woman In White... By Angela Reads I really enjoy Wilkie Collins, and this book did not disappoint. My favorite of his is The Woman in White, but I this book is possibly my second favorite. It truly is a classic. There is a mystery to solve, and there is also a love triangle. But there isn't too much "schmaltz" or sweetness in my opinion. It's also a fast read, since it isn't a very long book with unnecessary details.

Another great book by Wilkie Collins By Israel Drazin “My Lady’s Money,” by Wilkie Collins (1824-1889, a friend and oft-collaborator with Charles Dickens, is another book that readers can acquire for free from sources such as amazon because its copyright has expired. It is a good book, not as good as his “Moonstone” and “Lady in White,” or even “The Hunted Hotel,” all of which are superb dramas that begin with unusual episodes, but it is still good and an enjoyment to read. It is more of an investigative drama. It starts slow but we are drawn into trying to figure out who stole Lady Lydiard’s large denomination bill very soon.Lady Lydiard adopted Isabel Miller, a young, beautiful, charming, and nice, but poor woman. Two radically different men vie for her hand in marriage: The Honorable Alfred Hardyman, a wealthy nobleman, and Robert Moody, of a once rich noble family, who is impoverished, and who works for Lady Lydiard as her steward. Isabel is charmed by Hardyman and is inclined to accept his proposal, but Lady Lydiard warns her that a match with him is impossible because Isabel is descendant of a poorer class and Hardyman’s family and friends would never accept her into the family.Lady Lydiard decides to give a 500 pound note to charity, a huge sum in mid-1800s, puts it into an envelope, but is called away before she can seal the envelop. She sends Isabel to seal the envelope, which she does. It is soon discovered that the 500 pound note was taken from the envelope before it was delivered. Isabel, the last person to handle the envelope, is suspected.Lady Lydiard asks Mr. Troy, a very smart lawyer to investigate. He, in turn, asks a disbarred lawyer Old Sharon for his advice, but is dissatisfied with what he is told. Robert Moody decides to undertake his own investigation. Did Isabel, Moody, Hardyman, or Lady Lydiard’s nephew steal the money, and who will Isabel marry, if anyone?

Walter J. Hendelman, MD, CM, is a professor emeritus of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa in Canada. Dr. Hendelman completed his medical studies at McGill University in Montreal. Rather than having only two-dimensional slices of all the structures, this book has very nice three-dimensional rendering. This gives the reader a better spatial representation of where structures are, which are close to one another (implying there could be connections), etc.

By Brad Zimmerman This fantastic collection chronicles the lead up to the incredubly well written mega-arc, No Man's Land. It sets the stage, & in a moment, Gotham City is torn asunder by a massive catastrophe, which nearly levels the entire city. To fully appreciate the scope of No Man's Land, you MUST read this TPB first!

A deep, devastating journey into Gotham's darkest hour By Stuart S Before there could be the No Man's Land Batman saga, there first had to be the event that caused the destruction of Gotham. This collection contains the massive earthquake that ripped apart Gotham and the immediate repercussions of this tragedy. While this story may not be as revered as No Man's Land, Cataclysm is an important component of this arc that is critical to understanding the complete story.If you read the description, you'll see that this is a massive book. As such, it contains dozens of different talents, which means dealing with all of the positive and negative connotations that come with that. For the most part, the writing is decent and the art is fair. When this arc was first published, DC did not have quite the same level of artistic talent it does today, so be prepared for largely average panels. Of course, that doesn't mean there is nothing outstanding, quite the contrary, but these few gems are more than balanced by downright mediocre work. As this collection pulls from several titles, including second-tear characters (i.e. Catwoman, Azrael, etc.), second-tear talent should be expected. For me, the comic's art is supposed to pull the reader along the pages, helping to tell a compelling story. Unfortunately, not all of the art does this, which makes some of the chapters drag. Overall, however, the art usually does the job. As I must remind myself, comics sometimes need to be looked at as a product of the times. Future comparison, while valid, can be unnecessarily harsh on decades-old work.Writing, on the other hand, can be more fairly assessed with respect to time. This is especially true for Batman, who has had solid writing talent for several decades. Dixon writes well, he clearly has an understanding for the Batman and his family. Sure some of the writing is hockey and needlessly expositional, but overall, Dixon's craft is very pleasing. This is a difficult story to keep interesting and non-repetitive. Rescuing earthquake victims is an harrowing experience, and Dixon offers this task from the viewpoints of several characters, minor and major. There is thick layering that reveals just how damning this disaster was to the city. While some issues are quite forgettable, the sum product is excellent.This isn't a cheap book, but for what you're getting, the value is unbeatable. If you're interested in starting No Man's Land, picking up this one extra volume is highly recommended. Even if you're not, I still recommend this book. It's a good example of a layered Batman mythos. While the abundance of characters is not for the uninitiated, Batman has among the most well-known rogues gallery of any super hero. Thus, anyone with an average familiarity with the character would benefit from reading Cataclysm.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Great cards, but you could save yourself some money By JAlmendra I love these cards. Deserves all the great reviews. However, the new edition is basically the same as the last edition as far as content goes. I think there are 2 extra cards. They are worth every penny, but if you're a student, might want to save some money and keep the 3rd edition. I have only gone through about 1/2 of the cards, so my review is based on that. If I find any other new info, I will update. The cards are now thicker, and have a glossy coating. This is good since they're more sturdy and resistant to stains. But it can make it hard if you like to write on them or highlight things you keep forgetting. Also, makes them seem more daunting since the set itself is about 1/3 thicker than the last edition, even though it has the same number of cards. Another nice addition is that it comes with a big ring and the cards are punched, so you can keep the cards together easier. The colors are also a bit different and Pathogenesis icons are now black and white ( I preferred the color icons).Overall, these are great cards for Step or course review. Depends on your learning style. I usually switch between FA and sketchy and use these when I want to change it up or do 10/day so I won't forget things when I'm studying other subjects. I was hoping the new edition would have updated content as far as treatment, or addition of more tips. I guess changing the paper and adding a glossy finish categorizes them as "new edition". This is a great resource and I appreciate the author and publisher for this, but at the same time, I don't like when they change the cover or minor words and call it a new edition... But I understand it's business :)

Each card is filled with descriptive pictures, colors, clinical vignettes, mechanism of action, treatments, and more. They summarize everything you need to know for micro on the COMLEX and USMLE. There really isn't a downfall to these cards. Not that it matters too much, but the cards are very smooth and easier to handle. Each one is relatively wide however. But the cards serve their purpose and helps CONSOLIDATE everything you need to know about every microbe for the boards.

I would recommend writing in brief notes as necessary, and updates as well (some cards as outdated), to make these even more useful, but they're great as is. I was able to go through all 154(?) cards a few days before my microbiology exam. No substitute for a textbook or First Aid (I suggest using these cards along with FA for review), but I was impressed by how much relevant information was on each card. They hit most of the key points for each pathogen.Overall, excellent.
