Jules Verne was born in Nantes in 1828 and died in 1905. He was much more than the father of science fiction. In his novels he described future worlds full of contraptions and situations that were unthinkable at that time, but he didn’t just imagine them, rather he prophesized what we can see today. Was Jules Verne a prophet? He always denied it, saying that he had access to groundbreaking scientific knowledge in what was 19th century France that inspired his novels. It has been thought, however, that he might have acquired privileged information because of his relationship with Masonic sects and because he belonged to a secret society along with other writers, painters and thinkers of the time. He wrote more than eighty books, many of which have been made into films over and over again: From the Earth to the Moon (1865), Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1869), Journey to the Centre of the Earth (1869), Lighthouse at the End of the World, Around the World in Eighty Days, Round the Moon, are just some of his absolutely fascinating books that have made him one of the most widely read authors in the world.As Raymond Roussel put it “Verne will continue to exist when other authors of our time have long been forgotten”. Practice your Spanish with volcanoes and dinosaurs By Nathan Walker I've been listening to audio books to practice my Spanish for a while now, and I've always found Fonolibro's CDs to have great voice acting and narration. My only complaint with this one is that it was rather short (only 2 CDs, from a 250 page book), and a lot of good episodes from the book were cut. Still, if you want a simple way to practice your Spanish and listen to a classic story in the process, this is a great place to start.

What can i say about the book? it's enthralling, daring, imaginative in its vocabulary and many things more. I'm keen of adventure books but when you add exotic landscapes to accurate data you make a masterpiece. You may think the book does not deserve its 5 stars but just read the story and tell me 'du ecrivain français'.Bye

Preliminaries for the Fall Election Arc By Katherine Chan This is the book I've been waiting for - the beginning of the fall elections arc and the introduction of several top notch foodie rivals for Soma-Kun! In this volume, we get to see the victorious return to the Polar Star dormitory, a better understand and more backstory on Soma-Kun and his ties to a former alumnus from Totsuki, and some new characters including Hayama Akira! As usual, there's plenty of awesome looking food and intense iron chef-esque battles. While this volume is a little slower than the previous volume (no major risks of expulsions, not like the Training Camp from Hell arc) there is some good character development/backstory between Soma and one particular mystery chef...The art done by Shun Saeki is absolutely stunning. The illustrations are highly detailed, well laid out, and the food images totally rival anything you could see on Food Network. You will want to stop and eat something while reading this manga. The story by Yuto Tsukuda is equally gripping. It can be slightly predictable, but no less really entertaining to read. Overall, if you enjoy food and food competition reality shows, you'll probably enjoy this series. The story line is fun, the art is great, and if you can't get enough, there is even an anime that is following the manga closely (you can watch for free on Crunchyroll.com).The chapters included are:40. A bit of a change with a more personal story By Johanna Draper Carlson Just when I started feeling that reviews of Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma could become almost mechanical — what’s the special ingredient for the challenge? what’s the competition hook? what crazy dish does Soma come up with to win, or at least demonstrate his strength of character? — volume 6 comes along to shake things up.The next big competition for the cooking school kids is the Fall Classic. Before summer break, those who have been selected to participate are announced, which gives them their whole vacation to prepare. The cast continues to expand with various contestants in these huge battles, but it’s the few I can keep up with that I continue to follow.But first, there’s a more personal story, the one I was thinking of when I said this volume was a bit of a change-up. A former student, a member of the elite council and currently a traveling chef with rock-star hair, has returned to the dorms. Everyone’s impressed, and then he’s revealed to have a secret connection with one of the students. His globe-trotting means he has all kinds of techniques and ingredients from various countries to incorporate into his repertoire.The visitor gives Soma new perspective on the quest he’s been placed on at the school and the history that brought him there. Of course, the two wind up quickly in a cook-off, competing to make a morning “dish to energize and invigorate the body!” for some of the other students. The food needs to be light, easy to eat, and healthy, and as always, it’s fascinating to see what the contestants come up with. Plus, their recipes are included.Then comes the research for the upcoming showdown, including information on spices and how they’re prepared, with a particular emphasis on smell in cooking. The art is typical for manga. Lots of focus on expressions to put across the desired emotional mood, mixed with high-energy action to capture the struggle of competition. It’s the food information that keeps me reading, not the competent but unchallenging art.Unlike with some of the other challenges, I liked the way the setup for this big competition — drawn out to emphasize its importance, since the effort barely gets started in this volume — shows the kids actually working hard and studying, instead of relying on their natural talents and home experiences. What can I said, it's a food manga.I will put this series on hold...was waiting to see how the story is progressing first before making more purchase.I do not want to make a mistake like I did with Nisekoi...the story going down hill so it's a waste.

The study was expanded upon in an accompanying sermon series by our pastor. It was a fresh way of experiencing a story about Jesus' life using the perspective of a personal encounter. Esperaba otra historia By Ode O Quizá sea me confundí por la sinopsis, o por las imágenes en la portada, lo cierto es que esperaba una historia de suspenso romántico, pero no fue lo que encontré.La trama no está nada bien construida, los personajes son mediocres, la narración no es fluida, y lo peor es que el conflicto en la historia es un sólo capítulo, porque al siguiente ya atraparon a los malos. Lo que sigue es sólo una historia muy mal trazada.Le doy dos estrellas porque la portada sí me gustó.

Problem-Solving and Selected Topics in Euclidean Geometry: In the Spirit of the Mathematical Olympiads contains theorems of particular value for the solution of Olympiad-caliber problems in Euclidean Geometry. Selected geometric problems, which have been given in International Mathematical Olympiads (IMO) or proposed in short lists in IMO, are discussed. Additionally, a number of new problems proposed by leading mathematicians in the subject with their step-by-step solutions are presented. The book teaches mathematical thinking through Geometry and provides inspiration for both students and teachers.

Sotirios E. Louridas has studied Mathematics at the University of Patras, Greece. He has been an active member of the Greek Mathematical Society for several years both as a problem poser and a coach of the Greek Mathematical Olympiad team. He has authored in Greek, a number of books in Mathematics. 

Michael Th. Rassias has received several awards in mathematical problem-solving competitions including two gold medals at the Pan-Hellenic Mathematical Olympiads of 2002 and 2003 (Athens, Greece), a silver medal at the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad of 2002 (Targu Mures, Romania) and a silver medal at the 44th International Mathematical Olympiad of 2003 (Tokyo, Japan). He holds a Diploma from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens and a Master of Advanced Study in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge. He is currently a PhD student in Mathematics at ETH-Zürich. At the age of 22, he authored the book Problem-Solving and Selected Topics in Number Theory: In the Spirit of the Mathematical Olympiads – Foreword by Preda Mihăilescu (Springer, 2011), ISBN: 978-1-4419-0494-2.

About the Author

Michael Th. Rassias is a brilliant young mathematician and son of a highly regarded author and acclaimed mathematician, Themistocles Rassias.  He has received several awards in competitive mathematical problem solving. He received first prize in the Jozef Wildt International Mathematics Competition for three consecutive years in 2004, 2005 and 2006. He was also the silver medalist at the 44th International Mathematics Olympiad of 2003 held in Tokyo, Japan.

Rassias's last book with Springer is entitled "Problem-Solving and Selected Topics in Number Theory" and was published Nov. 23, 2010.

S.E. Louridas does not hold a present affiliation but has written 6 olympiad related books and has trained young people in math olympiads for several years in Greece.
