While traveling with his disciples, Jesus of Nazareth asked them, "Who do people say I am?" They replied, "Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets." "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Hundreds of years later, people are still asking the question, "Who is Jesus?" Best-selling author Wayne Davies has written this book to help you answer this question. He does so by taking you on a journey through the first 3 chapters of the Gospel of John. Arguably the most influential person in history, did a man named Jesus actually live in the Middle East 2,000 years ago? Did he turn water into wine, walk on water and raise people from the dead, only to die a criminal's death by a cruel and torturous form of punishment, and then come back to life three days later? While on earth, did he say he was God? Most importantly, is Jesus God? The Bible claims to have the answers to these all-important questions: Who is Jesus? What is the meaning of his death? And why does it matter? Written for new believers and skeptics alike, this book offers practical insights and plain English explanations of the essential teachings of the Christian faith. Appropriate for individual or small group study, each chapter includes thought-provoking questions to stimulate discussion, help you wrestle with the text and enhance your understanding of the Scripture.

And I am happy to give it! This brief work by Wayne Davies briefly explores the first three chapters of the Gospel of John, and does so in a way which engages the reader. While not recommended for those who are advanced in biblical knowledge, Davies' book is best suited for newer Christians and, as his subtitle claims, even for the skeptic. Questions at the end of each chapter help the reader who wishes to go a little deeper to explore his/her own walk with Christ. This would be good to use with a small group study.

It follows step by step what the Bible says, and really explains things well in a way anyone can understand. Even if you've never read the Bible, you could understand who Jesus was and is in a way that is fun and fascinating. I suggest this book to anyone who wants to find out what the Bible says about Jesus.I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

From the moment that I picked this book up (as much as you can on a digital device!!), I was drawn into the personal and honest writing style of Mr. Davies. I am so thankful that he offered me a chance to read this very thought provoking book. My family and I worked our way through it, gaining some wonderful insights, and not once did my daughters try to shirk this study. Each night offered some great reading & thus some wonderful conversations. This is a great study for families, small groups, or just a couple of friends!I received a free copy of this marvelous book in exchange for my honest review.

Volume Four, which collects issues 19-24 of The Eye of the World comic book, is illustrated by the talented Andie Tong, who also provided the interiors for Volume Two.

Perrin and Egwene have fallen in with Elyas and his wolf companions. Perrin is both distressed and intrigued when he discovers that he can understand the wolves. When Thom is apparently killed defending them, Rand and Mat are grief-stricken, but they have no time to mourn, for they know that Darkfriends will soon be on their trail. The boys put Thom's lessons to good use by performing as gleemen to earn their livelihood as they head along the Caemlyn Road.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Each volume is better than the last. By Peter Faden This one is no different than my title suggests. The artwork and pacing gets better and better each time out. This volume takes you to Caemlyn (as in, Rand and Mat arrive there....at the end though, so the next volume should cover that more), and also follows Perrin and Egwene as they travel with the Travelers and Perrin finds out more about his link to/with the wolves.Outside of that, there is a brief moment with Moiraine and company, but mostly, it is focused on the boys from Two Rivers.Fantastic installment to the comic representation of WoT. I look forward to many more.

This used item was sold by Readers_anonymous and I have to say that I am quite pleased. The book arrived before some purchases of the same book series which were purchased new and it is in very good condition. The cover was laminated and had some library stamps. I can't complain at all :)It is awesome to see what some artists think the characters look like. Many differ in my mind when I was reading Book 1 and sometimes it is difficult to tell the difference between Matt and Perrin, but overall I am very pleased with my purchase.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The artwork is quite good on most of the panels By Bill Nelson The artwork is quite good on most of the panels. It's fun to compare the way you imagined things when reading the full book compared to the artwork. This book was mostly about Egwene and Perrin with Elyas. In this book Perrin looked less burly and hairy than some of the other books, or my imagination had him. Egwene's look varied quite a bit from panel to panel. But overall, the story and art was well done.

The Golden Book of the Dutch Navigators by Hendrik Willem Van Loon This is a story of magnificent failures. The men who equipped the expeditions of which I shall tell you the story died in the poorhouse. The men who took part in these voyages sacrificed their lives as cheerfully as they lighted a new pipe or opened a fresh bottle. Some of them were drowned, and some of them died of thirst. A few were frozen to death, and many were killed by the heat of the scorching sun. The bad supplies furnished by lying contractors buried many of them beneath the green cocoanut-trees of distant lands. Others were speared by cannibals and provided a feast for the hungry tribes of the Pacific Islands. But what of it? It was all in the day's work. These excellent fellows took whatever came, be it good or bad, or indifferent, with perfect grace, and kept on smiling. They kept their powder dry, did whatever their hands found to do, and left the rest to the care of that mysterious Providence who probably knew more about the ultimate good of things than they did. I want you to know about these men because they were your ancestors. If you have inherited any of their good qualities, make the best of them; they will prove to be worth while. If you have got your share of their bad ones, fight these as hard as you can; for they will lead you a merry chase before you get through. Whatever you do, remember one lesson: "Keep on smiling."

The object of the present work is to offer to the farmer a concise outline of the general principles of Agricultural Chemistry. It has no pretensions to be considered a complete treatise on the subject. On the contrary, its aim is strictly elementary, and with this view I have endeavoured, as far as possible, to avoid unnecessary technicalities so as to make it intelligible to those who are unacquainted with the details of chemical science, although I have not hesitated to discuss such points as appeared essential to the proper understanding of any particular subject.

Greg Pak and Aaron Kuder knock this one out of the park with a take on Superman/Clark Kent that's new and fresh but has a classic feel, too.The story has a great old school vibe that brings to mind some of the old Fleischer cartoons, but it also touches on some very modern issues like bullying, outward appearances and accepting others for who they are. This story also features the single best version of Lana Lang that's ever been written. There's no damsel in distress here, this Lana is every bit the hero Superman is and she does it with no powers.I also appreciated how Pak worked in moments from Clark's childhood and shows how lessons he learned from that time affect him and the decisions he makes now. The scene when he first discovers his heat vision is breathtakingly drawn by Kuder and expertly scripted by Pak. Just a breathtaking scene all around. This story reminds us that, despite all his power, Superman is the most human of all the DC superheroes. He doesn't see himself as a god nor does he have any desire to be. He's a Kansas farm boy who realizes that the power he wields can be a great help or a great burden to the people of Earth. There's a moment in the Fortress of Solitude when we see where he chooses to sleep that truly drives home just how human he really is, in spite of all the Kryptonian memorabilia around him. This is a Superman story for any fan of the character, regardless of which era you love most. It's a story that illustrates how doing the right thing might not always have the intended effect you want, but that it's better to help others than oneself. Oh, and Ghost Soldier is one of the most intriguing new "villains" Superman has had in years!

By Justin Ross I gave this installment a five star rating because it explored an aspect of the man of steel that was truly remarkable. This being to judge others not by their outwardly appearance or by any social bias; but simply by their actions as an individual.I would recommend this installment to any fan of superman who knows that certain ideals are worth striving for.

One could argue that the only Superman comic worth reading was Unchained, and that was only a mini-series. Judging from all the reactions by fans and critics, it seemed like there was no ongoing comic series that gave the Man of Steel the respect he deserves. I thought the same until I read Action Comics vol. 5Granted, I enjoyed Geoff Johns short run on the main title (Superman 32-39) as well as Scott Snyder's Unchained, but I found myself wanting more. I was told to start here on Action Comics Vol. 5. Collecting issues 25-29 and Secret Origins #1, this volume tells a great, lighthearted and yet very emotional story about Superman. Even the Zero Year tie in issue was great. Greg Pak and Aaron Kuder deliver the goods here and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. If you haven't read Action Comics yet, you definitely should.**As a side note, I have to give more praise for Kuder on the art, because it's honestly some of the best work I've ever seen. It ranks up with Greg Capullo as my favorite.
